Lynn was born in East Anglia and trained at Colchester School of Art where she gained her degree in illustration and design. After leaving college she worked in theatrical design and then moved to Cornwall with her husband and three children where she established her workshop. Combining her interests and skills working in the three dimensional and her graphic training, Lynn began working primarily on her wooden figures.
Lynn's driftwood sculptures resemble 3 dimensional drawings suggesting a story to the viewer. She uses mainly driftwood collected on local beaches usually after a strong north-westerly gale! "Sometimes the wood itself suggests figurative forms, while at other times I have an idea and desperately have to search for the right piece. Then I work on it with machine saws, powered sander wheel and hand-tools and finally "illustrate" it with pen and paint.
Lynn exhibits and sells in the UK, USA and Germany and in 1993 won the British Toymaker of the Year Award. In 1995, her work was the subject of a television programme called Mastercraft.
