about Carole Green | back

Following an Art Foundation course at West Nottinghamshire college, Carole went on to complete a BA(Hons) in fashion design at the University of Central England, Birmingham. Here she specialised in embroidered textiles, applying these skills in fashion, interior and fine art contexts. Shortly after graduating in 1997 Carole won the prestigious Embroiderers Guild Presidents Cup competition and her work was featured in the Guilds 1998 festival.

Since graduating, Carole has been living and working in Cornwall as a freelance designer and an artist. Her work ranges from designing and sampling embroidery for use in fashion, to creating framed pieces and a selection of hand made cards which sell worldwide. Her work has received much interest, with collectors visiting Londonís ĎAffordable Art Fairí and Chelsea Art Fair.

At present, Carole is devoting most of her time to working as an artist with an emphasis on her love of hand stitching. She is constantly inspired by the landscape of Cornwall, in particular, living by the sea. The colourful environment of rural and seaside towns, and villages with their brightly painted houses, bobbing boats, hills, sky and sea, provide endless possibilities. With the use of simple stitches and a range of threads and fabrics, Carole is keen to develop collectable pieces, full of character, with an eye for detail and a flavour of Cornwall and Devon.
